SistersSummer has come, finally, to Los Gatos. 80 degrees at 4:30pm.

SistersLast Sunday was the Blossom Hill Jog-a-thon, a fun event to raise money for the school. It was cold but lots of fun. Katie ran 11 laps to help the cause.

DangerAfter 5 weeks of rain we’d had enough. We resolved to get out to the beach on Easter Sunday no matter what. Turns out we got lucky. After we got to Half Moon Bay the weather began to clear. We had a great time.

For some reason I am compelled to write this down.

1. Miller’s Crossing

Miller's CrossingWas there ever a movie with better dialogue? Was any actor who appears in this movie ever better in any other role? (Hint: no, and no).

2. Brazil

Brazil - Criterion CollectionBlows me away, every time. A masterpiece.

3. Lawrence of Arabia

Lawrence of Arabia (Single Disc Edition)Before seeing this I thought Peter O’Toole was a lightweight. Maybe he is, but his portrayal of T.E. Lawrence is captivating. An absolutely gorgeous film.

4. Star Wars

Star Wars Trilogy (Widescreen Edition Without Bonus Disc)The first one (you know, Episode IV). The one where Solo drew first (Greedo had it coming). The Empire Strikes Back is also excellent.

5. The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

The Adventures of Baron MunchausenA beautiful movie about the importance of imagination and of retaining a sense of wonder in our lives. Makes me cry every time.

Other movies I love, in no particular order: The Last Waltz, Local Hero, The Natural, Caddy Shack.
