It’s been two weeks since the start of our remodeling project. Framing for the new windows and doors has started, and the demolition is complete except for the kitchen.

My panorama making skills are improving slowly. Here’s a view of the house as it looks today (you may need to install Apple’s Quicktime plug-in to see this panorama):

You can also view the progress as a Quicktime panorama here.

Day 2The living room, naked.

View the living room as a QTVR panorama.

day1panoIf the building up goes as fast as the tearing down, we should be done in about 2 weeks. Hah hah.

This demolition thing looks like fun, though. It’s more like careful smashing than anything else. I think I could become quite good at it with a little practice.

Demolition zone.

beforeremodel1Somehow, some way, I was convinced by my lovely and talented wife that we should remodel our kitchen. This process began back in the summer of 2007, when, obviously, I was weak minded. Because the kitchen project became extended into the living room, and then on to the patio. Maybe “stunningly, amazingly, weak minded” would be more appropriate. We’ll be posting a poll about that later. But that’s enough about me.

Fast forward to May 12th, 2008 and the project is actually underway. We’ve selected our contractor, packed up 1/2 the house, and work has begun.

I’ll try to keep the site up to date with the progress of the remodeling project. If only to distract myself from the massive stress of thinking that at any moment the second floor is going to collapse into the first.

First up are some pictures taken right before the remodel started.

Three AmigosToday is Mother’s Day and we have 2 other significant happenings as well. Papa is visiting since last Thursday. And today is the last day before our remodel starts. So we’re busy packing and loading up some storage containers full of furniture and boxes of “stuff.”

We made Dutch Baby pancakes this morning for Meilei. We tried to serve them in bed but she got up before we had a chance to get them upstairs.
